The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
Story
After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, attempts to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. From melted makeup to filming in sub-zero temperatures, Colin Farrell and Kristin Miliotti discuss how they got into character during the production of The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but failed. For his own series, however, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user, with a preference for cigars.
An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros
logo. Starring Graham Norton and guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Batman, for my taste, has simply created the greatest depiction of Gotham City on film. The setting was disgustingly dank and visually everything you would want to see of what is known.
This series completely accelerates those aspects and builds on the film perfectly
A lot of this was the underworld of the criminal underworld that Oswald, aka The Penguin, was starting to take over. I can’t say enough about Colin Farrell’s performance in this and honestly, this might be his magnum opus. The guy gives the character the most rigid and pigeonholed feel possible which is so well done that it resonates. Even without Batman, his intrigue is so strong that you don’t even notice.
I can ignore that though
The other supporting characters are pretty well done, although some of the casting choices seem a little odd to some. This series continues to build the Batman universe perfectly and I can’t wait to see where they go from here. One of the best series of the last decade without a doubt. Give Colin Farrell all the credit he deserves for this role.
