Story

This documentary tells the story of a group of young Egyptian girls from a small, very conservative village in Upper Egypt who, despite rejection from their family, founded an all-female acting troupe. It’s a great film. I felt truly seen, connected to them, moved by them, and most of the time I felt like it was me in one way or another. It’s so moving! I can feel their struggle, their fears and dreams, how hard it is for them to even dream about it, how brave they are to follow their dream even though it’s very difficult for them in their conservative and narrow-minded community… I absolutely LOVE IT! The singer’s voice brought me to tears just listening to it. The cast is so real, so authentic that I feel like I could find them anywhere. I’ve seen it once, but I’ll go to the theater and watch it again. I would really like to see more of them.
