Story

Delia Balmer, a nurse, met Sweeney, who confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend. He attacked her before evading capture. Balmer rebuilt his life to face Sweeney seven years later after being arrested for another murder. Based on a true crime story. The bodies were dumped in canals in Rotterdam (not Amsterdam) and London. Top-notch performances from everyone involved, it made for uncomfortable viewing at times, but also engrossing television. I often cringe at real life dramas because they sweeten things up for one side or the other. In this case, you felt they gave a fair representation of both sides. I don’t remember the original story so it felt pretty fresh. We banned the program and didn’t intend to, so that’s saying something. The fact that it felt so overwhelming made it all the more believable, and the pace as we moved through key story components kept the tension up, I’d recommend this as quality TV.
